October has flown by. As this page is being written, it is already Halloween day. The ghosts and gobblins will soon be ringing the doorbell for treats and another month will be history. It feels like only moments ago I put away our holiday decorations and it’s about time to dig them out again. It is all good though. I hope you all feel the same about the change of seasons and along with that the traditions we hold dear. Our Corvettes are included in the love of tradition in my opinion too.
Our Corvettes have a long, unbroken tradition as America’s Sport Car and I continue to appreciate all Corvettes. Most in our club have the newer, modern editions, but the Corvette heritage is something we all help to maintain. Our club is strong and I thank all of you for helping to keep us on track by upholding our past while looking to the future.
In October some of us attended the latest SoCal Solid Axle Corvette Club tech day at Kent Browning’s facility in Cerritos. In our club, we have an assortment of Vettes from all generations, but it was a thrill to again see Kent’s collection of Corvettes. They are a 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, and 67! All in a row and all extremely rare models. It was an excellent display of tradition. While most of us are fortunate to own one or maybe two Corvettes, we are all continuing the Corvette tradition, so well done.
We just enjoyed one of our newer club traditions with Lasagna Night hosted by the Ceos. With Corvettes outside, we had a great time enjoying food, drink and each other on an ideal October evening. Thanks to Don and Connie for all they did!
Our traditions are continuing with the holiday season upon us. We are looking forward to our clup Christmas Party, participation in Bunnin Chevrolet’s annual Toys for Tots event, our local Holiday Lights run in Santa Clarita and another Food Drive at Sam’s to support the Santa Clarita Food Pantry. I hope you all will participate in these upcoming events.
Our Newsletter is another tradition we enjoy and my thanks go out to Scott Gregory for the fine job he does each month as Editor. Remember, Scott can always use YOUR help with contributions of articles and photos for the Gazette.
2023 will be here before you know it. With that, it will be time to again renew your memberships and to elect a board for the coming year. Some are bashful, but you are all capable. Now is the time for some in our membership the step up and get ready to move into leadership to assure our traditions continue and to even help determine new traditions for our club.
