From the Driver’s Seat – Apr2018
The month of April started like any other month with our Business Meeting, but that’s where common ended. Members brought their Corvettes to the meeting, and had pictures taken with them standing with their cars. Our webmaster, Mark Ware, wasted no time in getting the pictures uploaded to our web page (SCVCC.org) for all the world to see. But just after getting the pictures posted, Jeff Hernandez and Moira Moe got a 2018 Carbon 65 Edition Grand Sport. Needless to say, we are happy for them and the car is beautiful. After the May Business Meeting, their picture with their new Corvette will be posted on our web page. Be sure to check it out. Additionally, any member wanting a re-take picture should bring their car for a new picture.
Our first April event to “Live Steamers” was unfortunately canceled for a number of reasons, but our Activities Committee will be looking for a date in the future to reschedule that exciting outing.
Our monthly Taste-of-the-Town was held at California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) in the Bridgeport Shopping Center. 37 people turned out for the event, and CPK will be sending our club a check for 20% of our club’s total bill to be donated to the charity of our choosing. Thank you CPK for a great event, and your generous donation.
Our last event, the “Pismo Beach Run” was a total success. It was an impressive sight when 43 people in 22 Corvettes converged on the beach community. When our caravan rolled into the Kon Tiki Inn parking lot, it looked like a well-orchestrated ballet. Well, maybe not that great, but more like a coordinated feeding frenzy for that special parking spot. In the end the parking lot looked like a Corvette dealership.
The month of May brings our annual election of the Board of Directors and Committees which will lead their club for the upcoming year. I can’t emphasize enough the importance of voting, especially this election time. On the ballot will be some bylaws changes and clarification changes that is intended to improve the club operations for the future. All members are asked to read the changes and vote.
Our web page (scvcc.org) is ever changing and will be our club portal for nearly everything in the future. Be sure to look at the page often and become familiar with it. Remember, our web page is just like Costco, if you see something on it today, it might not be there tomorrow, so check it often.
