From the Driver’s Seat – November 2022
Our final newsletter before the New Year arrives is being distributed. I appreciate all of you sticking with us as our SCVCC moves into 2023. Can you actually believe that our club has withstood all of the challenges of the past three years? At this time in 2019, nobody heard or cared about covid. Now we all have at least heard of it. Our lifestyles changed in many ways during that troubling period, but thanks to you all we maintained and are continuing to grow. Our members at meetings is up and more prospective members are checking us out. Good job SCVCC!
In November, we had an excellent turnout for Photo Day to update the Gallery of Members portion of our webpage. The location, weather, and camaraderie were all excellent when we met, posed, and moved on. Our website was in need of updating to depict our current members and their Corvettes. Not all of our membership could attend on November 12th, but there will be a make-up day planned in the near future and all who missed the latest photo-op are encouraged to put the next date on their calendar when it is announced.
Taste of the Town was held at Bella Cocina on Seco Canyon on November 17. The location advertises itself a place to Experience Italy, Without The Travel. Read about it on page 13. Thanksgiving seems to have been the dining highlight of the month for the majority of the club. As you will read here in the newsletter, there will be no Taste of the Town in December as is our normal schedule. Our next TOT will be in January at the Black Bear Diner. There are 67 locations in California, make sure you join us here in Valencia.
We learned of the passing of Dick Meier on November 19th. Dick was a member of the SCVCC for over 12 years and will be missed by us all. Service details are still pending.
Our club will once again participate in the USMC Reserve Toys for Tots event at Bunnin Chevrolet. Santa Paula, the morning of December 10th. The dealership will host a pancake breakfast for participants. Please contact ME so we can have a good headcount for our hosts.
Later the same day, December 10th, our annual Santa Clarita Valley Corvette Club Christmas Party will be held at the Knollwood Country Club in Granada Hills. Our Activities team has worked hard to make this a delightful event to celebrate the Holiday Season with your Corvette friends. I will see you there.
Also in the holiday spirit, the SCVCC will conduct another food drive at Sam’s Club on December 17th to support the SCV Food Pantry. Thank you all in advance for your help in this worthy cause.
Judy and I wish you all the best at this wonderful time of year and are looking forward to 2023 for what the new year holds for us and the SCVCC.
Mike
