Driven! The 1,064-HP Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Is Patently Absurd
1,000-plus hp, $175,000: Is the most powerful production Corvette of all time the handful you might expect?.
Mac Morrison : Writer | William Walker : Photographer | May 30, 2025
Make no mistake, COTA is a satisfyingly special place to drive any quick and capable car, but when Chevrolet told us it was holding the official first drive event for the 2025 Corvette ZR1 at the flowing 3.41-mile, 20-turn Texas home of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix? There was a moment of pause and outright uncertainty…

SCVCC Feature Story

From the Driver’s Seat – July 2025
July started off with a bang and the Santa Clarita 4th of July Parade. SCVCC had 23 Fully decorated Corvettes participate in this year’s Parade. Unfortunately, we didn’t win a Trophy for our participation this year. The top prize went to “Outlaw Jeep Ladies of So Cal”. They also won the overall Sweepstakes Trophy. I’ve been told we didn’t get a Trophy this year is because we have won several years in a row and People were complaining about that. After the Parade a group of us had a nice Lunch at BJ’s Restaurant on Mall Rd.
July 11th about 20 of us met at “Route 66” for a nice Friday night Dinner gathering. This is turning out to be a favorite gathering for the Club. If you haven’t attended please do so as I’m sure you will have fun and enjoy yourself.
July also brought the Club together at “Lucille’s” for our monthly “Taste of the Town” outing. Again about 20 Club members gathered for dinner and Socializing. Again, I invite anyone who hasn’t attended this event to do so as I’m sure you will have a very enjoyable evening.
The big finale for July was a trip to the “Santa Barbara Zoo”. We had a nice turn out and everyone really enjoyed seeing the Animals. The weather was great and the Animals I’m sure enjoyed staring at us weird creatures also. We ended up having Lunch at “Andria’s Seafood Restaurant” in Ventura Harbor. If you haven’t eaten there, I suggest you make the drive and enjoy some of the best Seafood you’ve ever eaten.
Enough for July. Looking forward to August and my 80th Birthday.
