Driven! The 1,064-HP Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Is Patently Absurd
1,000-plus hp, $175,000: Is the most powerful production Corvette of all time the handful you might expect?.
Mac Morrison : Writer | William Walker : Photographer | May 30, 2025
Make no mistake, COTA is a satisfyingly special place to drive any quick and capable car, but when Chevrolet told us it was holding the official first drive event for the 2025 Corvette ZR1 at the flowing 3.41-mile, 20-turn Texas home of the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix? There was a moment of pause and outright uncertainty…

SCVCC Feature Story

From the Driver’s Seat – July 2024
I believe the club is off to a great start This month. Club members got together at In-n-Out Burger to honor the memory of Ed Shaver. Members of the club are part of a family. It must be expected that we will lose members from time to time. We have never had a traffic fatality. Members of the club drive safely on the runs we schedule. Marcia and I look forward to new adventures and experiences with the membership!
It is essential that the scheduled runs for the membership are conducted with safety of the members a consideration. Also, consideration must be given to safeguarding Corvettes on the runs as much as possible. I urge members to use a locking device also known as the club. The best locking device locks steering wheel to the brake pedal. I use a club to lock my vehicles whenever I drive them, even if it’s just the grocery store.
Crime in the Santa Clarita Valley is up. I encourage Corvette owners to park their vehicles in the garage. A Corvette owner near my home reported that their catalytic converter was stolen. Never underestimate criminals, they are here in ever increasing numbers. I urge our members to also think about acquiring mace or bear spray for personal defense.
I also advocate using evasive action if someone is following you. There’s nothing wrong with driving to the Sheriff’s Station on Golden Valley. Sheriff won’t mind a bit.
The Board needs a Newsletter editor. The job doesn’t pay anything, but you will become a key player in the club. Some eighteen years ago my first job with the SCVCC was Newsletter editor. This is a twelve month commitment.Three months at a glance was sent out separately this month.
In all the years I have been in the SCVCC I have always received respect and help when I asked for it. Many members have motorcycles that they ride. So, if you have a motorcycle, you may find new friends to ride motorcycles with too.
The Santa Clarita Valley Corvette Club is stronger than ever, so let’s have fun!
